The 2011 National Trademark Expo will be held on Friday, October 14th, and Saturday, October 15th, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Why are we letting you know so far in advance? Because deadlines for exhibitor applications is just around the corner — June 15, 2011.

The Expo is held every year at the USPTO’s headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia and features exhibits “designed to educate the public about the value of trademarks in the global marketplace.”

This year’s themes will include “Unusual Trademarks” and “Evolution of Trademarks.” According to the USPTO, last year’s Expo was attended by over 10,000 visitors.

If you’re the owner of a federally-registered trademark and would like to participate, you must submit an application through the USPTO website. Applicants will be judged based on the following:

• Brand recognition;
• Educational value of the proposed exhibit to enhance the public’s understanding of trademarks;
• Category diversity to ensure the Expo has a variety of trademarks represented.

The National Inventors’ Hall of Fame will review applications as they are received, and those who will receive a exhibition spot will be notified by July 15, 2011. Full information regarding the application process is available at the USPTO website.

Remember, the applications must be received by June 15, so get working on yours today!
